American Airlines' name change policy is quite restrictive, and typically, the airline does not allow for name changes on tickets. However, there are a few scenarios in which corrections or adjustments may be made.
If there's a minor error in the spelling of a passenger's name (such as a typo or a misplaced letter), American Airlines generally allows a correction to be made. The correction should be requested as soon as possible, and the correction must be done before the flight. For example, if the name on the ticket reads "Jonh Doe" instead of "John Doe," American Airlines may correct it
